The best way to show off your pictures is to create a slideshow. Instead of clicking a button to show each individual image, you can sit back and watch as they are displayed automatically with interesting transition effects. When it comes to creating slideshows, the tools provided by most of the available software are too basic. They only let you set a transition effect and duration. Besides the obvious task of creating slideshows, gPhotoShow Pro also lets you configure them in many ways.

The software can run on any Windows edition, from Win 2000 to Win 7 and due to its low system requirements, you can run it even with modest hardware. The setup file is 5.20 Mb large and it launches a standard installation wizard which will not hinder you with any additional options.

At a first glance, you may confuse the interface with the software's general options panel. Every setting can be made directly on the main window and ,with the aid of a tree structure on the left, you can switch between different sets of options. Images can be selected for the slideshow by adding them to a list, in the Images category. Also in this category, you can find a slider and a dialog box which you can use to set a transition speed.

Besides images, you can add other types of media like audio files, video and animation, even panoramic images. They can be imported in the same manner as the images. Depending on what you want to add, you can find different options under the files list. For example, when importing panoramic images, you can find two drop menus from which you can select a scroll direction for vertical or horizontal images. When playing the slideshow, the software can display certain details about the images, such as the used camera, exposure data, and much more. These can be enabled by clicking simple check boxes, in the Information category.

In the remaining categories, you can enlarge or reduce the images, set the program to fill empty spaces with a background color, set up filters and exclusions, choose one or more transition effects and much more. gPhotoShow Pro supports multiple monitors and you can have the slideshow run on the one that is not in use and make other related settings. The project can be saved as a file (.scr or .exe) and it will run on full screen. It is also possible to set it as a screensaver.

The tools provided by gPhotoShow Pro let you create and configure any thinkable aspect of a slideshow.

Pros

The software lets you make a wide range of settings and tweaks to a slideshow. The options are neatly organized in categories and they are not hard to use. Besides the Pro version, you can also find a free one.

Cons

Beginners may be a bit overwhelmed by the number of options, but there is nothing they cannot handle.
